Elddis Caravans is one of the longest-established caravan manufacturers in the United Kingdom. Based in Consett, County Durham, Elddis has been producing touring caravans since 1964 and is widely known for its innovation, strong build quality and practical caravan layouts designed for UK caravanners.
The company was founded by Siddle Cook, who built the first Elddis caravan in a small workshop in County Durham. The name Elddis is actually "Siddle" spelled backwards, a reference to the founder's surname. As caravanning grew in popularity during the 1960s and 1970s, Elddis quickly expanded production and became one of the major manufacturers in the British caravan industry.
Today Elddis forms part of the Erwin Hymer Group, one of the largest leisure-vehicle groups in Europe. Under this ownership the company continues to manufacture touring caravans and motorhomes at its factory in Consett, where thousands of vehicles are produced each year.
Elddis caravans are known for combining modern interiors, practical layouts and innovative construction methods, helping the brand remain a popular choice among both new and experienced caravanners across the UK.
Elddis produces several well-known touring caravan ranges designed to suit different touring styles and budgets.
The Elddis Avante range is one of the company's most popular caravan lines. These caravans offer a combination of modern styling, comfortable living spaces and practical layouts suitable for couples and families.
The Elddis Affinity range offers a higher level of specification and comfort, featuring stylish interiors and spacious layouts designed for caravanners who want a more premium touring experience.
The Elddis Crusader range represents the brand's flagship luxury caravans. Crusader models offer high-end features, large living areas and premium fixtures designed for comfortable touring holidays.
The Elddis Xplore range focuses on lightweight touring caravans designed for easy towing and great value. These caravans are particularly popular with first-time buyers and couples. In 2025 the Xplore range received an upgrade offering additional specification as standard whilst still striving to be lightweight.
Elddis caravans are widely recognised for their innovative construction technology and practical caravan layouts. The brand has built a strong reputation for producing caravans that are comfortable, durable and suitable for a wide range of touring styles.
